Carolina Vs Duke

Well it pains me to day that Duke won last night but I honestly seen it coming. No blame, they are a better team with alot of talent. How can you beat a team popping that many three's, well you start with defense that Carolina can not display, and after winning 21 games, being ranked No. 1 for most of the season, you should have a great defense. Another is turnovers and the Heels has to cut that number in half. I really don't want to hear we are on our third string PG. You are a Tarheel, you are suppose to be great student athlete when you walk on the court. Losing Lawson only accounts for 6-8 points because his average is 13.1 ppg. You really make up for the points with his ability to penatrate the ball inside with limited turnovers. He is a great ball handler and having Frasor teamed with Lawson for the bench really hurts. Can Carolina beat Duke in the final ACC game of the season, yes, but it takes heart, drive, and i will say it again and again, defense. Roy Williams is a great couch and great drive and the ability to coach these young men to greatness, but with the ego's alot of the kids have these days, when will they become uncoachable. Super Bowl XLII

So I am going to finally face the music and write about the Super Bowl that happened almost 48 hours ago. I figure that would be the best since a: my scoring prediction was bad off, and b: the pats lost which i thought would not happen. One thing I can be happy about is that the Pats did lose and the 72 Dolphins are still in the history books as the flawless group of perfection. My Dad is so proud I am sure. So Pats fans, sorry, the Giants by all means on Sunday were the better team. They came out and did what they had to do, shut Brady down and held the possesion of the ball so Brady could not get into a rhythem. Now, I do believe a couple bad calls helped the matter. I think we have all heard of that so I am not going to get into that part. All and all, maybe one of the best Super Bowls ever, and with defense so tight on both sides, it made the game better than the commercials for once. And Tom Petty, man, he still has it. Didn't that make you proud to be an American. Now, I wish I was a rich guy and would have been able to bet on the Giants, there is alot of richer people in the world right now. Just betting against the spread would have made me some money. So I think I will end with Super Bowl XLIII, Miami 13-San Fransico 7, now i was kidding, lets be serious, with the 10-1 odds that NYG will be back, I won't go that way, but I think New England vs. New Orleans. There I said it, mark it down and I will say told you so on January 31st 2009.

Bobby Knight Retires

On October the 9th 1997, a young 22 year old man became sad because the greatest college basketball coach retired. A passion of the game lead me to follow Dean Smith and the Carolina Tarheels. Out of those days I seen him coach and mould young basketball players into professional men. Another sad day for me came today, when the another great coach decided to retire and move on into another stage of his life. Bobby Knight, a man with 902 wins under his belt stepped down from head basketball coach of Texas Tech and left his legacy to his son. I always admired his drive and dedication and in a flash, i believe that he some of that died September 11th 2000 when he was fired from Indiana. Knights behavior and temper was a down fall but his drive and intense to win and coach player to men was his goal. Like I said, you don't have to agree, but his numbers speak for themselves. So to Bobby Knight, i salute you and your achievements and relax, you have earned it.

UNC VS Florida State

Well time foe me to comment about todays game of my boys, the Tarheels and the FSU Seminoles. The Noles have historically been a tough team to beat when challenging the Tarheels in any capacity. Today was no different. The Tarheels still lack defense which is going to play into there loss against Duke come Wed. Night. With the Noles placing the Heels into OT shows that Carolina has a rough time will hustling back on defense. Turnover after turnover also contributes to the near loss to the Noles today. Now the injury to Lawson in the opening minutes of the Game did leave the Heels without a PG, but after 22 games in the books, they should have the comfort to take him out of the game and rely on someone to run the court. I am sure Roy Williams did not put him back into the game so rest and heal him for the Duke game come Wed night, smart move and with a team as Carolina has, should have not effected the outcome of the game into OT. Now with that said, and I hope alot feels this way, Carolinas Opponents have seemed to play their best games against Carolina. Most noted Maryland that came to Carolina and upset them. Maryland did not play the same game against Duke and that is a fact, look at the numbers and you will really see a difference. Is Duke a better team than Carolina, at the beginning of the year, I thought no, but Dukes bench has came out and are showing that Duke has depth. I don’t think Carolina shows the same depth as Duke. Carolina also has a problem this year with ego. In there mind they are better than they are and they play good basketball when they feel like that want to play. So Roy, please make these guys D-up before Wednesday and take today as an example that turnovers are not the way to play against an opponent that is not as good as you are.

Spygate

Really, do we really need to talk about this, I think the answer is no, but we are going to. Do we really need our government to step into NFL, much less MLB? Please, go make laws that pertain to ensure my child gets a good education, and is safe to cross the streets, and when old enough, walk down the streets safely. Who cares about with the Patriots and whether they taped the 2002 practice of the Chargers or taped the play calling of other teams. This is purely the insight of a few people who don't know how sports is played. Should we stop spying on other countries to gain info about what there military is doing, oh that is un-ethical wouldn't it? See, my view is who cares, you on the other hand might, and if you do, your that over the top whining fan of a team the Patriots beat to a pulp 10 years ago. Like I have said before, we are now allowing our government that we pay alot of money in taxes to to review and regulate NFL and MLB and other professional sports leagues. There is top executives that get paid more money than congressmen and states reps to run and regulate the rules of their leagues. Please lets get health care and stop Mr. Terriost from invading us and leave the sports to the fans and the over paid execs that run it. If you feel the same as me, or want to give Specter a pat (no pun intended)on the back, comment on his page: http://specter.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Contact.ContactForm

Super Bowl Predictions

It is 3:45 pm on Sunday Feb 3rd. Right now the spreads in Vegas are between 14.5 and 11.5 for the Patriots. My prediction for the game is going to Patriots win 27-17 over the Giants. Why, as most will agree, Patriots are the most solid team that plays a team game. I am not a Patriots fan and will be pulling for the Giants tonight, but I have to admit, the Giants are not the team that will be able to take down Brady and his crew. To much team talent, and that is what i do like about the Pats, its hard to pin point one person on this team that you can say have taken them to a flawless season. You can say Brady, but he has to pass to Moss and Welker, plus the running game to Morris and Maroney makes your scoring easy, plus one great offensive line makes the magic of Brady happen. Then you have a defense who is 4th in the league that really puts things together. Maybe not the best defense, but remember, look at the score board at the end of the game. So there you have it, its in writing, I stand by it and I will not change it to reflect different, but believe me, The papers tomorrow will say, Pats flawless season.

Sunday Febuary 3rd 2008 (The Start)

Today I start my sports opinion page for the fun of spreading my views and interest throughout the web. I start this blog on the day of the Super Bowl, but never fear, i will be sure to give my views on this but not right now. A little about me, I am a North Carolina native that is a true blue Carolina Tarheel fan, not only in basketball, I also show my pride in football, girls basketball, soccer (which i am not a fan of the game), baseball. lacrosse, and whatever else they may play. But just to let you know, Carolina will not be my only focus on my sports opinion page. Other college teams and issues will be addressed and so will pro sport. Some of my views will make you mad, or your will agree, but please post your beliefs and we will have fun on here with it.
